The Early Years Compliance Handbook sets out the policy and approach to its compliance, investigation and enforcement work for providers registered on the Early Years and/or the Childcare Register.
Protecting children from harm is at the heart of Ofsted’s compliance and enforcement policy. They:
- act immediately on any information that suggests the welfare of children is not safeguarded
- work in accordance with their safeguarding policy and agreed protocols
- take action to raise standards and improve lives, as set out in their strategic plan
- take proportionate action – this means that they use the least action that is appropriate to bring about compliance.
The Early Years Compliance Handbook sets out the full details of the polices and legal basis underpinning Ofsted’s work, describes when they will take action, what action they might take and how they decide the severity of that action – indispensable professional guidance for early years childcare professionals.
